Super Eagles drop nine places to 70th in FIFA ranking


Nigeria are now 70th in the world, according to the new FIFA ranking released on Thursay.


It represents a nine-position drop for the former African Champions, who finished June in 61st place. The Super Eagles are now the 16th best team on the continent.


Algeria, who are in Nigeria’s 2018 World Cup qualifying group are the highest-ranked nation in Africa.


Euro 2016 champions Portugal, have moved up two places to sixth.


New Zealand are the biggest climbers. The Oceanic nation is now 93rd, after finishing June in 147th place. Their jump comes after their OFC Nation Cup victory.
